11th-gen Honda Civic coming to Thailand in August, PH next?

While its new looks may be a love it or hate it affair with mixed reactions from different people with different opinions, it is undeniable that the 11th generation Honda Civic is one of, if not the most awaited model of the Japanese brand.

Our ASEAN neighbor and source of the local Philippine-spec 10th generation Civic, Thailand, will soon be getting their hands on the new model and it’s happening next month, on August 6 to be exact.

This news comes just over three months after the new generation Civic was revealed in the United States in April. This is also exciting as being the source of our local market Civic, the new model’s availability in the Land of Smiles could mean that we are close to the new generation’s local availability.

It was already confirmed by none other than Honda Cars Philippines President Masahiko Nakamura that the all-new Civic will be available in our market before the end of the year. Given that there’s usually a few months after a Thai-launch for a model to be launched locally, a local launch could happen by October or November this year.

We don’t have any idea yet as to what the Thai-specification Civic will have to offer but we do expect it to remain overly similar with the American version. There are also rumors that Honda will stop offering the well-loved 1.8-liter naturally-aspirated engine with the Civic, instead going for a completely turbocharged lineup. We do know and expect that the 1.5-liter turbo Civic will have 180 hp and 240 Nm of torque.

Are you looking forward to the all-new Honda Civic’s local introduction? Well we’ll have an idea of what it will be like once the Thai-spec is revealed on August 6, 2021.
