Here is the new 14th-gen Ford F-150
The very much delayed 2020 Ford F-150 was just very recently launched in the Philippine market. Today, Ford has officially revealed the all-new fourteenth generation of their bestselling pick-up truck in America.
It gets a major redesign with a new PowerBoost hybrid powertrain, built-in office, and built-in generator just to name a few.
On the outside, the all-new F-150 is more of an evolution than a revolution. Ford says every exterior panel is new despite keeping its signature rugged and tough look. The headlights, grille, and bumper are all-new and give the new F-150 a slightly more premium look. If there’s anything we can say, it does look a bit less rugged and tough than the 13th-gen but it’s still there.
Inside, the new F-150 visibly gets a new dashboard design as well. It looks a lot more rugged and truck-like than in the current model but also has more premium materials. Upper variants will get a large 12-inch SYNC4 infotainment system, lower variants will get an 8-inch version. The 12-inch touchscreen allows multiple functions to be used at the same time through split-screen functions. A 12-inch digital instrument cluster is also an optional feature.
While most of this new F-150 are again evolutionary, it is very revolutionary in terms of new features. For one, there is a new Interior Work Surface feature. This makes the F-150 an actual office. As the F-150 has an actual shift lever, it doesn’t stop Ford from being able to find ways. The shifter can be pushed down into the center console then covered, allowing the area to be used as a table or desk. Another unique feature is Pro Power Onboard, which is a built-in power generator. The feature is optional on gasoline-powered variants and standard on the PowerBoost hybrid variant. This feature allows devices to be plugged in through the multiple outlets in the vehicle when in work sites, campsites, basically everything outdoors.
Under the hood of the all-new Ford F-150 are the same powertrains, including the 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 as the flagship option. A new option has been added in the form the PowerBoost hybrid powertrain. It is a 3.5-liter Twin-Turbo V6 gasoline engine paired to an electric motor which adds 47 hp. Exact figures are still unknown at this point. Despite it being electrified, Ford says that they are aiming to have the best-in-class performance with this powertrain such as in towing capability and driving range which are estimated at 5,443 kg and 1,123 km respectively.
With the launch of the 2020 Ford F-150 in the Philippines just held recently, how long before we get the all-new generation? For the US-market, the 2021 Ford F-150 is expected to go on sale before the end of the year. Export markets such as the Philippines could receive the all-new model after at least 2 years.
