2021 Subaru Levorg spied in Japan

It looks almost exactly like the prototype shown last year.

The second generation of the Subaru Levorg was spied unmasked in Japan. Based on the spy photo, the production version will pretty much be exactly the same as the pre-production prototype shown during the Tokyo Motor Show in 2019.

The overall exterior design of the next generation of Subaru’s wagon is mostly an evolution of the current model rather than a revolution which is typical when the company updates their models. This is very much apparent in their other models such as the Forester and Outback.

The new model also looks a bit bulkier than the current model though we can’t tell for sure as we haven’t seen the actual prototype in person. Compared to the prototype, the spied Levorg has the same front fascia, body color, and overall shape. The differences so far only come with the wheels and possibly the side mirrors though it isn’t so clear.

Under the hood, the new Levorg is to be powered by a new 1.8-liter turbocharged boxer engine with direct injection, paired to a Lineartronic CVT. No other details are available yet but Subaru says the engine should provide a balance between acceleration and “environmental credentials.”

If there are no further delays, the all-new 2021 Subaru Levorg should be revealed by July 2020 with an STI Sport version coming soon after that.
