The updated version of the most popular pick-up in the country is here.

Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) is continuing its launching streak with the refreshed 2021 Toyota Hilux. Just in the past few months and weeks they introduced the refreshed Wigo and Vios, and introduced the all-new Corolla Cross subcompact hybrid crossover.

The refreshed 2021 Toyota Hilux, first revealed in Thailand in June, gets not only cosmetic changes to the exterior and interior, but also some upgrades under the hood and in its suspension set-up. Things that can potentially make the best-selling pick-up truck in the Philippine automotive market sell even more units.

Starting on the exterior, the 2021 Hilux gets a more aggressive and sportier look with cues which seem to be inspired by its North American equivalent, the Tacoma. The front grille is wider than before and the bumpers also get a sleeker look. For 2.4 G and below variants, the headlights remain to be the same multi-reflector halogen units as before while the 17-inch alloy wheels are borrowed from the current 2.4 G variant of the Fortuner. The Conquest version adds Bi-Beam LED headlights, a larger grille and squarish bumpers, sports bar, and larger 18-inch alloy wheels.

Inside, the updated Hilux seems pretty much the same. What’s new is the 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system on the Conquest which comes standard with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The rest of the lineup get a smaller 6.75-inch screen. A new instrument cluster is part of the updates while mood lighting is now standard on Conquest variants.

Under the hood, the 2.8-liter 1GD-FTV turbodiesel powertrain on the top-spec Hilux Conquest 4×4 variant gets more power and torque. It now produces 201 hp and 500 Nm of torque. The smaller 2.4-liter 2GD-FTV turbodiesel still produces the same 148 hp and 400 Nm of torque but gets improvements for better fuel economy. Both powertrain options are still paired to a 6-speed automatic transmission.

Safety features on the 2021 Toyota Hilux include, at least on the 2.4 E and up, 3 to 7 airbags, Anti-lock Braking System with Electronic Brake Force Distribution, Vehicle Stability Control, Hill-Start Assist, Downhill Assist, a reverse camera, and rear parking sensors.

As for variants and pricing, the 2021 Toyota Hilux’s extensive lineup is revamped and is now composed of the following:
