2022 Nissan Almera spotted uncovered in PH, launch date confirmed

The 2022 Nissan Almera is several steps closer to its local launch as it has once again been spotted, and this time completely uncovered. Also, Nissan Philippines has announced an official launch date.

The upcoming next generation of the Almera was first revealed in 2019 as the Versa for the North American market. Eventually it was introduced in the ASEAN Region as the Almera, first for the Thai market in November 2019. It was even spotted testing locally earlier this year, wearing heavy camouflage.

Posted on the Interesting Car Spotting PH Facebook group by user Glenn Maquiran Jr., a handful of 2022 Nissan Almera units were spotted parked in Port San Pedro, Iloilo City. It also seems like the units parked show the complete lineup with a unit equipped with steel wheels, another with 15-inch alloy wheels, and finally one with a sportier set of two-tone wheels which is the N-Sport variant shown on Nissan Philippines’ teasers.

Another interesting thing seen in the photos is the appearance of a ‘Turbo’ badge on each unit, including the one wearing steelies. This could mean that the entire Almera lineup locally will have the new 1.0L HRA0 turbocharged 3-cylinder engine that produces 100 hp and 152 Nm of torque, removing the current 1.2L or 1.5L naturally-aspirated powertrains from the lineup.

Among the confirmed equipment for the 2022 Nissan Almera locally, thanks to the teasers, include LED headlights, silver side mirror trim, soft-touch leather trimming on the dashboard, a new 8-inch NissanConnect touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 7-inch TFT display in the instrument cluster, and even a 360-degree around-view monitor, at least on the top-spec VL N-Sport Turbo variant.

No pricing has been announced yet as expected, also no leaks are found but we do expect the price to jump up a bit given the several new equipment and new engine.

As for the launch, it will be held on October 8, 2021, Friday through a virtual event. We’re expecting Nissan Philippines to release more details soon.
