2023 Ford Ranger spotted again in PH, now heading to dealers
We’re definitely getting very close to the official launch of the all-new next-generation Ford Ranger in the Philippines. Lots of information has already found its way online, both from Ford and from other sources. Now, units of the very much awaited pick-up truck are on their way to dealers.
We spotted a vehicle transporter carrying five units of the all-new Ranger heading north along the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) just a few hours ago. Given that this is far from any Ford stockyard facility in Laguna or Batangas, it’s surely headed to a Ford dealership.
Of the five units, three of them were the top-spec Wildtrak 4×4 and two of the Wildtrak 4×2. We’ve already reported about the possible full variant line-up of the Ranger for the Philippines but there are some changes and here is the new list:
- 2.0 XL 4×4 M/T (instead of 4×2 M/T)
- 2.0 XLS 4×2 M/T
- 2.0 XLS 4×2 A/T (instead of 4×4 M/T)
- 2.0 XLT 4×2 M/T (new)
- 2.0 XLT 4×2 A/T
- 2.0 Sport 4×2 A/T
- 2.0 Sport 4×4 A/T (new)
- 2.0 Wildtrak 4×2 A/T
- 2.0 Bi-Turbo Wildtrak 4×4 A/T
From the photos, it’s easy to spot that the Ranger Wildtrak will have matrix LED headlights for the 4×4, reflector-type LED headlights for the 4×2, LED taillights, gunmetal gray 18-inch alloy wheels, and a rear sports bar, to name a few.
Also visible on the 4×4 is a radar in the bumper for Ford’s Co-Pilot 360 suite of advanced driver-assist safety technology. This means it could get Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop-and-Go and Lane Centering, Auto High-Beams, Autonomous Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Forward Collision Warning with Brake Support, Lane Keeping System, Lane Departure Warning, Blind Spot Information System with Cross Traffic Alert and Braking, 360-degree Around-view Monitor, Reverse Brake Assist, and Evasive Steer Assist.
We’re also expecting all variants to be powered by Ford’s 2.0-liter EcoBlue turbodiesel engine. The Wildtrak 4×4 will get the bi-turbo version like on the outgoing model. For the XL 4×4 M/T, the single turbo version should produce 150 hp and 350 Nm of torque. On the XLS 4×2 A/T all the way to the Wildtrak 4×2, it should produce 170 hp and 405 Nm of torque while the Wildtrak 4×4 with the bi-turbo still produces 210 hp and 500 Nm. Transmission options are a 5- or 6-speed manual, and a 6- or 10-speed automatic transmission.
We don’t know much yet about the rest of the Ranger’s variant but given what we saw and already know, it is definitely very exciting. We also won’t have to wait too long as Ford Philippines Managing Director Mike Breen already confirmed with another publication that the launch will happen within the next few weeks.
