2023 Toyota Vios teased in Thailand, to be revealed in August

Toyota’s most popular offering in the Philippines has been around for almost an entire decade, receiving various facelifts over time. Now, Toyota is finally set to introduce an all-new generation for the subcompact sedan in Thailand where it is known as the Yaris ATIV.

Of course, we want to know what it’s gonna look like and we’re able to show you thanks to a 15-second teaser video posted on Toyota Motor Thailand’s official YouTube channel. By the way, it will be fully-revealed on August 9, 2022.

While the teaser is very shadowy, it is very easy to see what the next generation Vios will look like. Very visible is the more aggressive and more upscale looking front fascia with a large front grille, and headlights which mimic those on the larger Corolla Altis.

Meanwhile, the side profile appears to have a more coupe-like appearance with a sloping roof toward the back. The rear then gets new taillights with sequential LED turn indicators, as well as what appears to be a small spoiler-like design.

On the other hand, the dashboard design is less shadowy in the teaser, revealing what looks to be a more modern and premium-looking interior compared to all previous generations of the Vios. We’re seeing a more horizontal theme with a floating-style touchscreen infotainment system as well as a new steering wheel. What’s interesting is the interior color scheme which is a combination of Wine Red and Black. We’re also noticing a diamond-stitch pattern on the front seats.

We don’t know yet what’ll be under the hood of the next-gen Toyota Vios but we won’t be surprised to see the current and past generations’ 1.3- and 1.5-liter gasoline engines, perhaps with a little more power and torque. Both will most likely still be paired with a 5-speed manual transmission or a CVT.

As for safety, the next generation Vios will most likely get some bits of Toyota Safety Sense such as autonomous emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, and lane departure warning, just to name a few.

Again, the all-new Toyota Vios is set to be revealed in Thailand as the Yaris ATIV on August 9. As for the Philippines, we’ll have to wait a bit longer but given how important this model is for the local market, we won’t be surprised to see it locally very soon.
