Toyota Veloz gets new and more affordable “E” variant

Amidst its new car launching spree, Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) is not forgetting its current lineup as they also quietly introduce a new entry-level variant for the Veloz compact MPV or compact SUV in their marketing terms.

Launched last year, the Toyota Veloz gets a new 1.5 E CVT variant, sitting below the 1.5 G CVT variant and above the Avanza’s top-spec 1.5 G CVT which it also is closely related to.

Given that the Toyota Veloz 1.5 E CVT is an entry-level variant, it does lose out on some things. For starters, it loses the black plastic overfenders of higher Veloz variants, as well as puddle lamps. It also gets smaller 16-inch two-tone alloy wheels which are from the Avanza 1.5 G CVT. Finally, the option for a Platinum White Pearl Mica exterior is not available.

Despite being base though, it still gets an 8-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, full LED exterior lighting, a 7-inch TFT display for the driver, fabric + synthetic leather seat material, and power folding side mirrors, among others.

It is also still powered by the same 1.5-liter 2NR-VE Inline 4-cylinder gasoline engine that produces 105 horsepower and 138 Nm of torque, exclusively mated to a continuously variable transmission (CVT). This powertrain is shared with the Toyota Avanza and recently launched Yaris Cross.

The Toyota Veloz 1.5 E CVT is priced at Php 1,092,000, a good Php 118,000 less than the 1.5 G CVT, and a measly Php 33,000 more than the Avanza 1.5 G CVT.
