With the 9th Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS) coming closer, car brands are releasing teasers left and right. The latest to join the fray is Chery Auto Philippines which will be showcasing two vehicles.

Thankfully, we won’t have a hard time guessing what’s on their teaser as the two vehicles are showing enough of themselves through their covers. We can easily tell that the Chinese automaker will be unveiling the latest round of updates to its Tiggo 2 Pro and Tiggo 5X Pro compact crossover.

This is definitely the Chery Tiggo 2 Pro.

Let’s start with what’s on the upper right. That is the refreshed Tiggo 2 Pro. This small crossover, gets a completely redesigned front fascia with more aggressive and sleeker lines featuring segmented LED daytime running lights which are integrated with the larger front grille, and a redesigned rear end which now gets a full-width light bar.

This certainly does not look entry-level.

Its interior has also been redesigned with a much more modern and premium look. Features could include a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, leather seats, and ambient lighting.

Powering the updated Chery Tiggo 2 Pro could be a 1.0-liter turbocharged Inline 3-cylinder gasoline engine that makes 103 horsepower and 150 Nm of torque. Another option could be having the same 1.5-liter naturally-aspirated Inline 4-cylinder that makes 107 horsepower and 140 Nm of torque. Both can be mated with a CVT.

On the bottom left is the refreshed Tiggo 5X Pro which gets a completely redesigned front fascia that looks similar to that of the larger Tiggo 7 Pro but with a larger front grille which is almost as wide as the entire width of the vehicle. It also gets a new wheelset and redesigned C-pillar, as well as sleek-looking full-width taillights.

An easy giveaway as well that this is the Tiggo 5X Pro and not the Tiggo 7 Pro is its sunroof which is normal-sized instead of panoramic.

Inside, its dashboard has also been redesigned, lifted straight-out from the latest Tiggo 7 Pro and Tiggo 8 Pro but implemented in a smaller package. It features a single housing for the touchscreen infotainment system and digital instrument cluster which both measure at 10.25-inches, as well as a new steering wheel which gets a more premium look.

Under the hood, we can expect the refreshed Tiggo 5X Pro to have a 1.5-liter turbocharged Inline 4-cylinder paired with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system. This makes 156 horsepower and 230 Nm of torque, mated to a CVT.

Oh, and this update comes just a year after this crossover was refreshed for the local market.

The 9th PIMS is just around the corner so we won’t have to wait too long to see these two models in the flesh. The four-day motor show will be happening this coming October 24-27 at the World Trade Center Metro Manila in Pasay City.
