Nissan stops accepting orders for the GT-R in Japan

The R35 generation has lasted for seventeen whole years.

The year is 2007, and the highly anticipated Nissan GT-R (R35) goes on sale in Japan in December. The newest iteration of Godzilla would go on to be refined and reiterated over the next seventeen years, with various special editions, successful race cars, and even a hard-core Nismo variant.

And it seems that the sun is now setting for the model as Nissan Japan is no longer accepting new orders for the car, as it says on its website.

“We have received orders from many customers for the Nissan GT-R, and we have stopped accepting orders for the quantities that we plan to produce.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the many customers who have patronized us over the years since its launch in 2007.”

This follows the GT-R’s discontinuation in the United States back in June 2024. Whether it could be in preparation for the upcoming generation or it might have something to do with the brand’s financial problems, but with the place where the vehicle is built not accepting new orders, it’s obvious that Nissan is sunsetting the model and finishing up the order logs.

The future of the GT-R seems to be electric.

As for customers worried about whether Nissan Philippines will be discontinuing the model, the local arm of the automaker has not issued a statement just yet. One can guess that the remaining stocks and orders are being cleared, but it’s definitely the end of an era for this twin-turbo supercar killer.
