The Chevrolet Spark is back in PH as a small electric SUV, price starts at Php 1.547M

Remember the Chevrolet Spark? It was a Daewoo-based hatchback that was one of the smallest offerings of the American automaker here in our market, and a bit popular too. Unfortunately, it lost its spark (hehe) and was eventually discontinued a few years ago.
Well, it’s back in the Philippines, and just like the Captiva PHEV and Captiva EV, it was also quietly introduced by Chevrolet Philippines under its distributor, Hariphil Asia Resources, Inc. And unlike its predecessors, it is now a fully electric SUV based on the Baojun Yep Plus, and is now called the Spark EUV.

Its Baojun roots are quite obvious with its retro-inspired design with a boxy silhouette that’s matched with soft lines. In fact, nothing has been changed apart from Chevrolet badging replacing the Baojun badging. Size-wise, it measures at 4,003mm long, 1,760mm wide, and 1,726mm tall.

Full specifications have not yet been announced by Chevrolet Philippines, but what we do know is that the Spark EUV is powered by a single electric motor that produces a humble 102 horsepower and 180Nm of torque. With a 42kWh battery, it’s capable of driving up to 360km on a single full charge.

Standard equipment on the Chevrolet Spark EUV include LED exterior lighting, 16-inch alloy wheels, leatherette seat upholstery, a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, and a six-speaker audio system, just to name a few.

As for pricing, there will only be one variant of the Chevrolet Spark EUV in the Philippine market. It comes at a special introductory price of Php 1,449,000, while its normal retail price is Php 1,547,000. With the Chevrolet brand having lost some shine in the local market in recent years, do you think the introduction of the Spark EUV could help it regain lost growth? Only time will tell.
