The 3rd-gen Mazda CX-5 for the PH could come in two variants

The compact crossover segment in the Philippines is something that everyone should be looking at now, where it’s facing a bit of a renaissance with a whole slew of familiar nameplates returning in electrified form—and the third-generation Mazda CX-5 is the next one that looks to be coming very soon.

The crossover has already been launched in several other markets around the world, and it looks like we’ll be getting this next for our market.

This new generation delivers a completely revamped design outside with a brand-new interpretation of the Kodo design with slimmer and sleeker lines, while the interior is a bit controversial due to the all-new infotainment screen, either measuring 12.9 or 15.6 inches, and ditching the controller-operated Mazda Connect OS in favor of a fully touch-operated system based on Android Automotive.

Thanks to available public information, we have an idea that the upcoming crossover is a hybrid, and it will be coming in two variants— FWD HEV and AWD HEV Premium Plus. From the available information, rated power output is 180 horsepower with an electric motor output of 4.80kW (6.5 horsepower) and has a 0.21kWh lithium-ion battery, which lines up with the power output of the naturally aspirated 2.5-liter e-Skyactiv-G, which utilizes the 24-volt M Hybrid system.

Of course, it could feature luxuries such as available tan Nappa leather, a 12-speaker Bose sound system, a panoramic sunroof (which will probably be reserved for the top-of-the-line trim), the complete suite of i-Activsense advanced driver assistance systems, and a roomier interior thanks to its bigger dimensions of 4,690mm long, 1,860mm wide, and 1,695mm tall, with a wheelbase that is 115mm longer.
Granted, information is still up in the air regarding this CX-5, but it is very exciting to see models like these come in a day and age of rapid adoption of fully electrified models from other manufacturers. Are you excited for the all-new CX-5?
