Tesla Model Y Long Range AWD could be discontinued in PH

The Tesla Model Y is a very popular fully electric crossover not only in our market, but the entire globe. One of the top-selling battery electric vehicles (BEV) here, it has received a handful of changes throughout its time here in our market, and it looks like there could be another one soon.
A source tells us that the American automaker may soon discontinue local sales of the Premium Long Range AWD variant, similar to what was done with the Model 3 sedan back in April of this year. This comes about half a year since a new Premium Long Range RWD variant was introduced.
If true, would mean that the Model Y will be available exclusively as a single-motor rear-wheel drive (RWD) crossover, with the long wheelbase Model Y L to become the sole dual-motor all-wheel drive variant in the lineup. Our source also tells us that the discontinuation of the Premium Long Range AWD variant will not only be applicable to the Philippines, but also most of the Asia-Pacific Region.
As a refresher, the Tesla Model Y Premium Long Range AWD comes powered by dual electric motors that produces a combined 389 horsepower and 510Nm of torque, allowing it to drive from 0 to 100kph in just 4.3 seconds. An 81kWh NMC battery provides up to 629km of range on a single charge.
Features that will be lost once its discontinuation happens includes a 15-speaker sound system with a subwoofer, as the RWD variants only come with a nine-speaker setup. Meanwhile, the Model Y L Premium comes with an 18-speaker setup.
If you’re interested in getting your hands on a Tesla Model Y Premium Long Range AWD, this might be your last chance, so hurry up and place that order. In case you’re wondering, pricing starts at Php 2,749,000 without any additional options.
