The latest in Philippine motoring

The VinFast VF 2 is the newest microcar from Vietnam that costs around Php 440K

If you thought that the VinFast VF 3 was the smallest car from the Vietnamese automaker, well, think again. Newly introduced is the VinFast VF 2, a short and stout two-door, four-seater micro EV that’s aimed at the city and has an incredibly affordable price of 188 million VND, or around Php 440,000, with a battery.

Looking more like a competitor to the likes of the Jetour Ice Cream, Bestune Pony, and the likes, this incredibly cute two-door car measures 3,090mm long, 1,496mm wide, 1,663.2mm tall, and it also has a wheelbase of 2,065mm. The exterior is bubbly shaped, and has features like LED headlights, 13-inch alloy wheels, and, according to VinFast, the ability to “invite owners to personalize their vehicles”.

The interior is understandably spartan for the price range, only getting a 7-inch digital instrument cluster behind the steering wheel, manual air conditioning, two speakers, and a four-way manually adjustable driver’s seat, and a rear bench that can fold down to accommodate cargo. This also comes with ABS, traction control, and electronic brakeforce distribution.

It’s powered by a single rear-mounted electric motor with a maximum output of 40 horsepower and 65Nm of torque, with a top speed of up to 80kph. Maximum driving range is up to 210km (NEDC) from its 18.3kWh battery, and it can be fast charged at speeds of up to 24kW, filling the battery from 10 to 70% in around 34 minutes.

Given if VinFast Philippines introduces this vehicle here, this would most likely be relegated to the city as its maximum top speed would make it hard to ply expressways with ease. However, the chances of the starting price dropping even more with a battery subscription might make this very attractive to a lot of people.
