The all-new Hyundai Tucson embraces the Art of Steel

The Hyundai Tucson is a beloved nameplate from the Korean brand, with the current fourth-generation model having been on the market since 2020. While other automakers often stretch out their vehicles for close to a decade, Hyundai has revealed the design of the latest fifth-generation Tucson just six years into the current generation’s life cycle.

Now embracing the Art of Steel design language, the Tucson sports a very bold and muscular design that we’ve seen first in the likes of the updated Grandeur and Avante (Elantra). Big, boxy body lines with “three-dimensional” side fenders and vertical H-edge daytime running lights that are also mirrored on the rear end.

The Tucson also grows a bit, now measuring 4,700mm (+60mm) long, 1,905mm wide (+40mm), and 1,685mm (+20mm) tall, with a wheelbase that measures 2,785mm (+30mm) longer. Second-room headroom is now 29mm bigger, with a door opening angle that’s now bigger (73 to 83 degrees).

The interior adopts the cleaner, more minimalist look from other models, featuring a slim digital instrument cluster above a double D-cut steering wheel, a large infotainment screen that’s either 12.9 or 14.6-inches now running the Pleos OS that’s based on Android Automotive, and a layout that prioritizes driver visibility and open space, like a steering-column mounted shifter, two wireless chargers, and a card holder by the driver’s side air vent.

No powertrains have been confirmed yet, but we’re certain that this will utilize the latest hybrid technology or even a possible battery-electric powertrain. Hyundai also showed it off in XRT form, which is an off-road-oriented variant with differences such as bespoke bumpers with a skid plate, wheel arch garnishes, a forged carbon pattern, and unique wheels.

Do you like Hyundai’s latest design direction for its newest vehicles, and are you excited for Hyundai Motor Philippines to eventually bring this in once it launches worldwide?
