Tesla Model Y Performance is closer to PH as it launches in China

For Tesla Philippines, the Model Y continues to be a hit product, accounting for a large majority of their sales in our market. Becoming even a bigger hit is the six-seater Model Y L, which, according to a source, now accounts for more than half of current customer orders.

Over in China, the Tesla Model Y is also quite popular, and it recently gets a boost with the introduction of the Tesla Model Y Performance, the sportier and high-performance variant of the fully electric compact crossover.

Starting at RMB 369,000 or approximately Php 3,450,000, the Tesla Model Y Performance is capable of going from 0 to 100kph in just 3.5 seconds with its dual-motor electric powertrain that produces a total of 635 horsepower and can drive up to 526km on a single charge.

Looks-wise, the Model Y Performance in China mirrors what’s seen elsewhere. Compared to the standard versions, it gets Performance-specific bumpers, a ducktail spoiler, sport seats with thigh extensions, and an adaptive suspension.

It also comes with 21-inch Arachnid wheels wrapped in Pirelli P Zero tires, high-performance brakes, and slightly lower ground clearance. A Chinese-exclusive Glacier Blue paint job is also available as an option.

Now, you’re probably wondering if the Tesla Model Y Performance will be launched in the Philippines.

Given that the Tesla Philippines lineup pretty much mirrors what’s on offer in China, and the fact that they currently offer the Model 3 Performance, we’re already expecting the Model Y Performance will also be coming to our market. The real question is not if, but when?
