A first look at the Omoda C7 SHS

After we got a brief introduction to the vehicle at Auto Shanghai 2025, the folks at Omoda & Jaecoo Philippines brought us over to their headquarters in Wuhu, Anhui to try out and sample several of their new offerings, one of which was the Omoda C7 SHS.

You’ve got to give the designers of the C7 credit, as it has a design that stands out from the rest of its Chinese compatriots, with a sharp beak-like hoodline flanked by sleek headlights, and an interesting geometric grille that disappears into the front bumper (now, where have we seen that before?).

It has aerodynamic 19-inch alloy wheels and edgy proportions that make this 4,660mm long, 1,875mm wide, and 1,670mm tall crossover look a lot smaller than it actually is.

The raked rear window and lightning-bolt signature taillights add a lot of flair even to the rear end.

The C7 has a Super Hybrid System (SHS) that mates a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine, a dedicated hybrid transmission (DHT), an electric motor, and a moderately sized 18.4kWh battery. It’s a plug-in hybrid that can be charged via the port found on the rear right fender.
The total power output is 342 horsepower and 525 Nm of torque and can drive on pure electric power of up to 90km on a single charge, but that range shoots up to 1,258km when used as a hybrid.

The minimalist interior has an interesting dashboard layout, such as a two-spoke steering wheel, a small 8.88-inch digital driver’s display with a large heads-up display right above, and the aircon vents located on top of the dashboard under the center channel speaker.
But the C7 SHS has one incredible feature for the 15.6-inch infotainment screen: it slides to the right so the passenger can use it.

Other niceties include Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, ventilated front seats with massaging for the driver’s seat, a panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, a 50W wireless charger, an eight-speaker Sony sound system, and a complete advanced driver assistance suite, to name a few.
A traditional internal combustion engine model is also available, but as Omoda & Jaecoo Philippines mentioned, it will be arriving in our country as the plug-in hybrid SHS only. Now, if this were fairly priced, would you consider this over the likes of the BYD Sealion 6 DM-i?
