AC Motors Is Launching Six New Models This Year
The Ayala Corporation’s automotive division, AC Motors, the official distributor of Kia, Maxus, and Volkswagen vehicles in the country, is looking forward to a brighter year ahead and they are doing it by launching six new models.
This was revealed during the company’s media thanksgiving party which was held online between January 12 to 15.
In his welcome remarks, AC Motors automotive group President Antonio “Toti” Zara III revealed, “As a show of our confidence and commitment to the industry, our distributor brands are working on launching at least six models (in 2021). We are also planning to open six company-owned showrooms across our five auto brands in addition to franchised appointments.”
Furthermore, Zara stressed that AC Motors would “work towards achieving at least a 10% share in the automotive market by 2025” despite the setback of the 2020 pandemic.
“We acknowledge that the local market still needs to recover from the devastating effects of an ongoing pandemic. But history has shown the resilience of our automotive market, time and again, through all manner of crises – and we are confident that this time will be no different,” Zara said.
As to what exact models will be launched, Volkswagen and Maxus have begun teasing their respective upcoming models and also confirmed what they are. These are the updated 2021 Volkswagen Santana subcompact sedan and the all-new 2021 Maxus D60 compact crossover SUV.
As for the next four models, we’re seeing the all-new 2021 Kia Carnival and Sorento, plus the Volkswagen Tiguan and Teramont. The two Kia nameplates both received full model changes last year and are very much likely to be introduced within the year.
The two Volkswagen models on the other hand, the Teramont 7-seater SUV is a likely candidate. The all-new Tiguan compact crossover is also possible as the current model available locally is no longer in production in China where it is sourced from.
