All-New 2022 Isuzu mu-X Spotted on PH Roads, Launching Soon?

Exciting news for Isuzu and SUV lovers, the all-new 2022 Isuzu Mu-X has been spotted on Philippine roads, a good sign that the much-awaited model may be launched in the country soon.

A photo, taken by Go Flat Out PH Founder and Editor-In-Chief Isaac Atienza shows four undisguised units of the all-new Mu-X being transported on a truck along the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX), possibly on its way to dealerships or even to Isuzu Philippines’ storage facility.

This comes a little over four months after Isuzu Philippines introduced the new generation of its D-Max pick-up truck which the Mu-X shares its platform with. This sighting means that we could be a month or two away from an official launch.

As exciting as the sighting is, what’s more exciting is what the spotted units appear to be. We can safely say the units on the truck are of the top-of-the-line variant which could be dubbed as LS-E if Isuzu were to follow the naming convention of the D-Max lineup. Very visible in the photo are the 20-inch alloy wheels and LED taillights. Isaac also says that LED headlights were also visible. It should also get a similarly premium interior just like on the D-Max LS-E 4×4 variant.

We won’t be surprised if the Mu-X will be powered by the same engine choices as the D-Max. Higher-end variants will most probably get the 3.0 L 4JJ3-TCX Blue Power Turbo Diesel powertrain that produces 187 horsepower (190 PS) and 450 Nm of torque. Other variants are likely to get a 1.9 L RZ4E Turbo Diesel that makes 148 hp (150 PS) and 350 Nm of torque, both paired to 6-speed automatic transmissions.

As per safety, the Mu-X, at least on the top-spec variant, will definitely be equipped with a full suite of advanced driver-assist features (ADAS), first seen on the D-Max. This should include adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, and autonomous emergency braking, among others.

Of course, we don’t know anything official at this point including an exact launch date. For now we can just wait and see in the next couple of weeks or months.
