The all-new Nissan Navara has been revealed in Australia

2026 Nissan Navara PRO-4X

There has been a lot of anticipation towards the next generation Nissan Navara. That’s all fair especially since the current D23 generation has been around for a little over a decade.

Over in Australia, Nissan has finally unveiled the all-new generation of their midsize pickup truck which has been undergoing a lot of teasing in the past months, and underneath all its sheet metal, it’s actually based on the Mitsubishi Triton.

You can easily tell that at first glance with the two pickup trucks sharing the same overall shape. The front fascia has however been redesigned to feature signature Nissan elements.

It wears a large V-strut grille with a three-slot design on its upper portion, inspired by the D21 Frontier. This is flanked by C-shaped headlights, and it rides on different wheel designs ranging from 17- to 18-inches. Its taillights feature redesigned clusters with a C-shaped signature.

The Pro-4X trim gets more rugged cues with its black-finished trim pieces, Lava Red accents, a blacked-out sports bar, 17-inch wheels wrapped in 265/65 R17 all-terrain tires, and a towbar.

Meanwhile, the interior may be easy to mistake for a Mitsubishi Triton as everything is the same except for the Nissan badge on the steering wheel, and for the Pro-4X, Lava Red accents and trim.

Also carried-over to the Navara is a nine-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and (wired) Android Auto, an analog gauge cluster with a seven-inch TFT display

The similarities don’t end in its design and features as the all-new Nissan Navara also shares its powertrain with the Mitsubishi Triton.

A 2.4-liter twin-turbo diesel four-cylinder (4N16) engine can be found under the hood, producing 204 horsepower and 470Nm of torque, mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. Nissan also claims a combined estimated fuel economy figure of 12.98km/l.

Also new for this generation Navara are two kinds of advanced four-wheel drive systems that Nissan says is designed to adapt to changing conditions, while maximizing fuel efficiency and performance.

The first is the Easy 4WD system for lower variants, automatically switching between two-wheel drive for highway cruising and four-wheel drive when extra traction is needed. Higher variants such as the ST-X and Pro-4X get a new Super 4WD system (possibly derived from Mitsubishi’s famous Super Select-II 4WD system) that offers a full-time high-range mode with an open centre differential. A Torsen limited slip differential also enhances cornering stability by optimizing torque distribution.

The all-new Nissan Navara will first go on sale in the Australian market within the first quarter of 2026. We don’t know if Nissan Philippines will be offering it in our market as there is another current generation Nissan Navara facelift destined for many other global markets, and the new Mitsubishi-based version is being touted as designed exclusively for the Australian and New Zealand markets.

Whatever happens, there surely is a lot of anticipation for this all-new Nissan Navara, whether or not we get it in our market.
