Are these the prices of the new Chevrolet Trax?
A few days ago, Chevrolet Philippines, under the distributorship of The Covenant Car Company, Inc. (TCCCI), teased on their official social media pages the arrival of the all-new second generation Trax.
Now a larger compact crossover as opposed to the previous generation’s subcompact category, we’re expecting it to go head-to-head with the likes of the Ford Territory, Changan CS55 Plus, Honda CR-V, and Toyota RAV4, among others.
One thing that TCCCI didn’t announce in their teaser is pricing and we were wondering whether they would source the all-new Trax from China where it is called the Seeker, or from South Korea. Well it seems like it will be from the latter as a Facebook post by automotive content creator SoJooCars revealed to us what could be the all-new model’s lineup and pricing.
According to the post, the 2023 Chevrolet Trax for the Philippines will come with three variants. The lineup will start with the Trax LT which will be priced at Php 1,793,888, followed by the mid-grade Trax Redline Php 1,866,888. The lineup will be topped-off by the Trax RS which we saw on the teasers, which will be priced at Php 1,948,888. The Facebook post also included photos of the actual units.
Now we’re a bit sure that the Trax will be sourced from South Korea because if it were sourced from China, given that it will likely come with a 1.2-liter turbocharged Inline 3-cylinder, it would be priced with the tax breaks given to vehicles imported from there. Also, the Chinese market Trax only comes with a 1.5-liter turbo engine and has a slightly different appearance from the Trax RS shown in the teaser which looks like the one from South Korea and North America, which are both built in the former.
Now we’re also not sure if those really are the prices of the all-new Chevrolet Trax given that TCCCI has not announced anything. We won’t have to wait too long though as it’ll officially launch in the market on July 4, 2023.
What do you think of the pricing of the all-new Chevrolet Trax?
