Are these the PH prices of the 2021 Honda City?
If you’re reading this, you probably know that Honda Cars Philippines will be holding their first virtual launch on October 22, 2020. They will be launching two models, the first is the refreshed 2021 Honda CR-V and the subject of this article, the much awaited 2021 Honda City.
Given that the launch date is very close, we’re not surprised that what could be the prices and variants of the all-new City for the Philippine market have been leaked online. The list of variants and their corresponding prices were posted by a Honda sales representative from one of their dealerships on the western side of Metro Manila.
Now if we were to trust this sales agent’s post, we can see that the 2021 Honda City will be offered in four different variants which are as follows:
- City 1.5 S M/T
- City 1.5 S CVT
- City 1.5 V CVT
- City 1.5 RS CVT
If the list is true, then this is great news as the Honda City will be getting the RS treatment just like the Brio, Civic, HR-V, and Mobilio. While the RS versions do not get any mechanical upgrades, it does come with a sportier appearance.
Also based on the list, it looks like we won’t be getting the Thai-market City’s new 1.0-liter 3-cylinder turbocharged Earth Dreams VTEC petrol engine that makes 120 hp and 173 Nm of torque. Instead, we’ll be getting the same size 1.5-liter DOHC petrol engine that produces 121 hp and 145 Nm of torque which are still good numbers.
Now for pricing. The agent also mentioned in the post the prices which appear to be slightly more affordable than the outgoing model. These are as follows:
- City 1.5 S M/T – Php 840,000
- City 1.5 S CVT – Php 880,000
- City 1.5 V CVT – Php 970,000
- City 1.5 RS CVT – Php 1,050,000
For reference, the outgoing City’s prices range between Php 820,000-Php 1,068,000. This means that you can get the top-spec 2021 City RS for Php 18,000 less than the outgoing top-spec City 1.5 VX+. This is also a bit interesting as the 2021 model will no longer be manufactured in Honda’s Sta. Rosa, Laguna plant which closed down earlier this year. It will most likely be imported from Thailand where models like the Accord, Civic, CR-V, HR-V, and Jazz are sourced from.
For other specs and equipment, information has neither been released by Honda Cars Philippines yet nor leaked by other sources. As these are not official information, we should take them with a grain of salt. We do have exactly just a week left before the 2021 Honda City is finally launched in the country so it would be best to wait till then.
