The latest in Philippine motoring.

Behold, the Ferrari 12Cilindri arrives on PH shores

No turbo and electrification here, just pure V12 power.

After its launch last year in the famous Miami Beach in Florida, the Ferrari 12Cilindri has made its way into the Philippines, launched today by the brand’s local distributor, Velocità Motors.

Before we get into the details, let’s get the pronunciation out of the way. 12Cilindri is properly spelled out as ‘dodici-cilindri’ and pronounced as ‘dodi-chi-chilindri’ as Italians would, not ‘12 see-lin-dri.’

Anyway, the Ferrari 12Cilindri is the successor to the 812 Superfast, and continues to be propelled with no forced induction and electrification as any pure bred grand tourer should be.

Found under the hood is a mid-front mounted naturally-aspirated 6.5-liter F140 V12 engine. It produces a whopping 830 horsepower and 678 Nm of torque. Mated to an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT), it is claimed to accelerate from 0 to 100 kph in just 2.9 seconds with a top speed of 340 kph.

Thanks to reduced weight and inertia of various engine components, such as the use of titanium con rods and new aluminum alloy pistons, the engine can rev up to as much as 9,500 RPM. Mechanical efficiency is also improved thanks to a Diamond-Like-Carbon (DLC) steel used for the valvetrain’s sliding finger, derived from Formula 1 and developed exclusively for the V12 engine.

On the outside, the 12Cilindri gives hints of the past with a classic-inspired look on the front fascia, reminding us of the 365 GTB Daytona from the late 60s to early 70s, matched with a sleek and modern body. The wheels are 21-inches in diameter and are wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport S5 tires.

It also gets several design features aimed at improving aerodynamics such as a 25mm nolder on the boot lid and an active aero spoiler that adjusts depending on the vehicle’s speed to either reduce drag or increase downforce. There are also vortex generators for better airflow,  and various openings for better engine and brake cooling.

Inside, the 12Cilindri’s dashboard is split into three levels with the top level blending into the door panels. It takes inspiration from the brand’s dual-cockpit architecture, taking similar cues as the Ferrari Roma and Purosangue.

It features a new Human Machine Interface (HMI) composed of a 10.25-inch central touchscreen for most vehicle functions, and a 15.6-inch driver display for driving related functions and information. The passenger also gets their own 8.8-inch display.

Now you’re probably wondering how much the Ferrari 12Cilindri costs. Pricing starts at Php 44,000,000 but final costs will vary based on the various customization options which will bring the price up.

Also, every Ferrari 12Cilindri owner will be able to take advantage of Ferrari’s comprehensive seven-year maintenance program covers all regular maintenance for the first seven years of ownership.
