BMW PH releases a limited-edition 520i that’s priced at Php 3.990M

If you wanted to buy the current G60-generation BMW 5-Series, you’d have to shell out Php 4,990,000 for the standard 520i, a generous sum, regardless. But SMC Asia Car Distributors Corp, the official importer and distributor of BMW in our country, is introducing a limited-edition 520i that should make most people in the market for a midsize executive sedan blink twice.

The biggest draw? This new variant costs a surprising Php 3,990,000, a whole million less than its standard sibling, and also similarly priced to some smaller luxury sedans. So what did BMW have to take out to meet this price point? Surprisingly, not much.

For starters, this 520i is sourced from Malaysia instead of Germany. Features-wise, apart from the 18-inch wheels, the removal of the Iconic Glow grille, and the four available colors of Alpine White, Black Sapphire, Cape York Green, and Oxide Gray, the spec sheet remains very similar to the standard 520i that’s priced a million pesos more.

That means the LED headlights and aluminum satin-finish exterior trim are still there, and the 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine with 48V mild hybrid tech still pumps out the same 208 horsepower and 330 Nm of torque, mated to the same eight-speed automatic transmission.

Even the interior and safety tech are the same: the BMW Curved Display (that has a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14.9-inch infotainment), the Harman Kardon sound system, quad-zone climate control, BMW Interaction Bar, sport seats with Veganza upholstery and memory function, and even an automatic tailgate, the complete set of airbags, cruise control, and a parking assistant.

If you want to get your hands on it, this vehicle will only be sold in limited quantities at BMW dealerships nationwide. The vehicle will be on display at the Masters of Motion display at the South Court, Power Plant Mall at Rockwell from February 21 to 23, 2025.
