BMW PH updates 2-Series Coupé line with two new variants for 2023
BMW Philippines, under the distributorship of SMC Asia Cars Distributors Corporation, is kicking-off the year by giving its 2-Series lineup an update with the introduction of two new variants, the 218i Coupé M Sport and M240i xDrive Coupé.
The current generation BMW 2-Series was launched locally in April of last year. According to BMW, it is a modern interpretation of the iconic 2002 model, which marked the brand’s first foray into introducing high-performance iterations of modern coupés. It also rides on the brand’s Cluster Architecture (CLAR) that is shared with the rest of its latest models.
Now as for what’s new, first, the 218i Coupé M Sport features exterior details that highlight its sporty profile with a M Aerodynamic Package, M High Gloss Shadow Line, M Sport Suspension, M Rear Spoiler, and 18-inch M Light alloy wheel Double-spoke Style 848 M Bicolour with mixed tires. Inside, the vehicle still features a driver-focused cockpit design. Sport Seats and a BMW M leather steering wheel with paddle shifters come as standard.
Under the hood of the BMW 218i Coupé M Sport is a 2.0-liter Inline 4-cylinder BMW TwinPower turbocharged gasoline engine that produces 156 horsepower and 250 Nm of torque, paired to an 8-speed Steptronic automatic transmission. It should be able to go from 0 to 100 kph in 8.7 seconds.
On the other hand, the BMW 218i M240i xDrive Coupé takes on a number of performance enhancements making it more aggressive and sporty. For its exterior, it gets M Aerodynamic Package and M Rear Spoiler, BMW M 50 Years Badge, M Sport Brake in Dark Blue Metallic, and 19-inch M Light alloy wheel Double-spoke Style 792 M Bicolour with mixed tires and run flat tires to complete the look of the vehicle. Inside, the M240i xDrive Coupé is fitted with Leather Vernasca Décor Stitching upholstery in three colors that customers may choose from which are Tacora Red, Black, and Oyster.
Under the hood, the BMW M240i xDrive Coupé is powered by a 3.0-liter Inline 6-cylinder gasoline engine that produces 374 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque, paired to an 8-speed ZF Steptronic Sport Automatic transmission which sends power to all four wheels via BMW’s xDrive all-wheel drive system. This allows the M240i xDrive Coupé to accelerate from 0 to 100 kph in just 4.3 seconds.
The rear-biased xDrive all-wheel drive system combined with the Adaptive M Suspension and BMW M Sport Differential also allows exhibit sharper and more grippy handling whether on standard roads or on the racetrack.
The BMW 218i Coupé M Sport retails for Php 3,590,000 while the BMW M240i xDrive Coupé is priced at Php 4,890,000. Both come with BMW Philippines’ 5-year comprehensive vehicle warranty.
