BYD M6 electric MPV teased for PH

Just a few days ago, we checked out the BYD M6 fully-electric MPV at the 46th Bangkok International Motor Show (BIMS) in Thailand. We thought it made sense for our market and it seems so as BYD Cars Philippines has just released a teaser for this exact vehicle.

The teaser shows a darkened image of what is definitely the electric MPV along with words “Max It Up” which could mean the M6 will use the eMax 7 name for our market.

Anyway, for what we can expect, powering the BYD M6 or eMax 7 are different electric motor choices.

The most powerful option produces 204 horsepower and 310 Nm of torque. A 71.8 kWh BYD Blade Battery allows it to drive for up to 530 km on a single charge.

Other markets also get a DM-i version using the Song Max nameplate, which is the M6’s plug-in hybrid version. On top of its different front fascia, it gets a 1.5-liter gasoline engine that makes 110 horsepower and 135 Nm of torque and acts as a generator for its electric motor that produces 197 horsepower and 325 Nm. Driving range is over 1,000 km combined, with an all-electric range of 105 km thanks to its 18.3 kWh battery.

Design-wise, the M6 takes some styling cues from the Han and Tang with its sleek front fascia matched with a rather simple, if not old-looking, side and rear l rather simple. On the other hand, the interior is typical BYD with a rotating touchscreen and loads of space.

Seating options vary with six- or seven-seater options. The former gets second-row captain’s chairs while the latter gets a normal three-seater bench seat.

Obviously, pricing is not yet available. As with other BYD vehicles though, it will surely be very competitive. What do you think, would you get an electric MPV over the usuals?
