Cashless toll collection to be reimplemented on March 15, 2025

Still haven’t gotten into installing an RFID sticker for local tollways on your vehicle? Well you’re going to need to have it on soon as the Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) announces that they will be re-implementing a full cashless toll payment scheme at all expressways in the country starting March 15, 2025.
It will be recalled that this scheme was initially implemented in 2020 as one of the means to prevent the spread of virus during the COVID-19 pandemic. It was however suspended a handful of times due to various operational issues.

In case you don’t have time to have a toll RFID sticker on your vehicle prior to the reimplementation date, don’t worry as you will still be able to enter and use expressways.
You will however be asked to stop and have a sticker installed, along with the confiscation of your driver’s license and issuance of a temporary operator’s permit or violation ticket for violating the No Valid ETC Device, No Entry Policy under the Department of Transportation, Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board, and TRB’s Joint Memorandum Circular No. 2024-001, with corresponding penalties.
As such, it is still best that you have your toll RFID sticker installed prior to then. The TRB has also directed tollway operators and RFID service providers to open additional installation sites, as well as additional account reloading options, for the convenience of motorists.
Installation also remains free of charge and vehicle owners can simply reload their accounts with the required toll fee when needed, and with no maintaining balance required.
Our only question now is, is it final this time? Regardless, you’ve been warned.
