Changan PH introduces CS55 Plus, price starts at Php 1.179M
After quite the teaser campaign on its social media platforms, Changan Motor Philippines, Inc. (CMPI) has officially taken the wraps off its latest crossover offering in the Philippine market. Say hello to the all-new Changan CS55 Plus.
Set to compete in the compact crossover segment with the likes of the MG HS, Geely Azkarra, and Ford Territory, the Changan CS55 Plus was first revealed last year. Now it’s here and you can choose from three variants: Lite, Hype, and Luxe.
In terms of looks, the CS55 Plus wears the latest Changan design language giving it a modern and very aggressive and striking appearance. It looks like a combination of the CS35 Plus and CS75 Plus, and the brand’s UNI lineup of crossovers, especially with its large front grille and red accents around the exterior. Inside, the CS55 Plus II gets a very high-tech looking interior. In fact, it seems that it is inspired by Peugeot’s i-Cockpit with the instrument cluster’s placement and flat-top and bottom steering wheel. The standard equipment list is also quite generous regardless of the variant.
As for equipment, standard exterior features starting from the Lite variant are full LED headlights with LED daytime running lights, LED taillights, rear fog light, 19-inch alloy wheels, and power sunroof. The Hype adds automatic headlight function, heated and power folding side mirrors, panoramic and rain-sensing sunroof, and rain-sensing wipers. Finally, the Luxe gets a power tailgate with height memory function.
Standard interior equipment starting from the Lite variant are a 10-inch breakcode instrument cluster, 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay connectivity, 4-speaker audio system, automatic climate control, 6-way power adjustable driver’s seat, leather-wrapped steering wheel, and leather seats. The Hype gets a larger 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, 6-speaker Pioneer audio system, 10-inch fully digital driver’s instrument cluster, and ion generator for the climate control. Finally, the Luxe gets bi-color seats and a wireless phone charger.
Under the hood, all variants of the Changan CS55 Plus are powered by a 1.5-liter NE15 Inline 4-cylinder turbocharged GDi (TGDi) engine that produces a healthy 188 horsepower and 300 Nm of torque, paired to Changan’s own 7-speed (wet-type) dual-clutch transmission sending power to the front wheels.
For safety, the Changan CS55 Plus Hype and Luxe variants are equipped with the brand’s Safe-tech suite of advanced driver-assistance technology. The Hype gets Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB), Adaptive Cruise Control, and Forward Collision Warning. Meanwhile, the Luxe gets even more with added Pedestrian Detection for the AEB, Traffic Jam Assist, High Beam Assist, Lane Departure Warning, and Lane Keep Assist.
Both also get a 360-degree Panoramic Camera with an HD Driving Recorder that gives you a 540-degree view of your surroundings. It is basically an integrated dashboard camera eliminating the need to purchase one separately. The Lite gets a reverse camera.
The Changan CS55 Plus is now available at all 35 dealerships nationwide with the following suggested retail prices which seem to be quite competitive:
- 1.5 DCT Lite – Php 1,179,000
- 1.5 DCT Hype – Php 1,283,000
- 1.5 DCT Luxe – Php 1,373,000
Customers will also be able to take advantage of a 5-year or 150,000 kilometer (whichever comes first) vehicle warranty. Available exterior colors are Black Pearl, Fantasy Gray, White Knight, and SuperNova Red.
