Changan PH teases CS55 Plus II

It seems like Changan Motor Philippines, Inc. (CMPI) is expanding its crossover lineup in the local market as they have posted what looks like a teaser for the CS55 Plus II compact crossover.

This teaser was posted on their official social media pages and comes a few months after the said model was spotted on local roads, specifically on the Metro Manila Skyway. If launched, the CS55 Plus II would slot in between the CS35 Plus and CS75 Plus.

In terms of looks, the CS55 Plus II wears the latest Changan design language giving it a modern and very aggressive appearance. It looks like a combination of the CS35 Plus and CS75 Plus, and the brand’s UNI lineup of crossovers, especially with its large front grille and red accents around the exterior.

Inside, the CS55 Plus II gets a very high-tech looking interior. In fact, it seems that it is inspired by Peugeot’s i-Cockpit with the placement of the driver’s digital instrument cluster, and the shape of the steering wheel. It also gets a large touchscreen infotainment system and an electronic gear selector.

Under the hood, the Changan CS55 Plus II is powered by a 1.5-liter Inline 4-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine. This is perfect for our market as it can mean a lower price tag. The powertrain produces 188 horsepower and 300 Nm of torque, paired to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission.

In terms of safety, we are hoping that the Changan CS55 Plus II would come equipped with advanced driver-assistance tech like on the CS35 Plus. If ever, it could come with autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and lane departure warning, just to name a few.

We don’t have much information on the Changan CS55 Plus II’s launch in the Philippines but given the teaser, it could come soon. Hopefully it is priced competitively for it to directly fight the Ford Territory, Geely Azkarra, and Chery Tiggo 7 Pro.
