CONFIRMED: BYD Sealion 5 DM-i is coming to PH soon

Last month we reported that the BYD Sealion 5 DM-i is coming to the Philippines based on information from documents from the Land Transportation Office (LTO). A handful of units have even been spotted being transported on local roads. Now its launch is officially confirmed as BYD Cars Philippines has begun teasing their newest crossover’s arrival on social media.

Basically a rebadged version of the Chinese market BYD Song Pro (as seen on local spy shots), the Sealion 5 DM-i will be the newest addition to the Chinese automaker’s plug-in hybrid (PHEV) lineup in our market.
It is expected to sit below the Sealion 6 DM-i which has gained a strong following ever since it was launched last year. Being smaller and probably more affordable, the Sealion 5 DM-i could probably take on the likes of the Toyota Yaris Cross and Corolla Cross, and the Honda HR-V e:HEV.
An official launch date has not yet been announced but given the timing of the teaser, we can expect it to happen within this month. In the meantime, you can read more about the Sealion 5 DM-i, including expected technical specifications, through this link.
Would you choose the BYD Sealion 5 DM-i over its larger sibling or more established rivals?
