Facelifted Subaru Forester to launch in PH in March 2022
While all eyes and ears are probably focused on the upcoming launch of the 2nd generation Subaru BRZ in the country, one must not forget the brand’s top-selling model in the market, the Forester. According to a reliable source, the facelifted version of Subaru’s compact crossover SUV offering is set to be launched locally by March this year.
The updated Subaru Forester for 2022 was unveiled in September last year, initially for the North American market. It comes with various tweaks around the vehicle to keep it updated. The current SK generation was first unveiled in 2018, and launched locally in 2019.
In terms of looks, the 2022 Subaru Forester gets a completely new front fascia. While an evolution of the outgoing model, it gets a bolder and more aggressive look. It gets new headlights and front grille, a revised front bumper, new fog light housings, and a new alloy wheel design. The rear does not get much changes except for a black-painted portion between the license plate and rear windshield.
Not much information was shared to us but we were told that the 2022 Forester will still have two variants available locally at launch: the 2.0 i-L and 2.0 i-S. Our source also tells us to expect features and specifications to remain identical with the outgoing model such as standard LED headlights, 17-inch two-tone alloy wheels for the i-L, an 8-inch infotainment system, 360-degree around-view monitor, and leather seats.
As per our source, the updated Forester will retain the 2.0-liter naturally-aspirated Boxer engine that produces 154 horsepower and 196 Nm of torque, paired to Subaru’s Lineartronic CVT. Yes, this won’t be the return of turbocharged Foresters in the market.
In terms of safety, the 2022 Forester might come equipped with the latest in Subaru’s EyeSight technology, EyeSight 4.0. This means it should come standard across the range with Adaptive Cruise Control with Lane Centering Function, Pre-Collision Braking with Autonomous Emergency Steering, Pre-Collision Throttle Management, Lane Sway Warning, Lane Departure Warning & Prevention, and Lead Vehicle Start Alert just like the Outback.
No information was given to us with regards to pricing but we can expect the 2022 Subaru Forester to be priced between Php 1.9-million to Php 2.2-million. Again, the launch may happen this March 2022 given that there are no delays.
