First batch of Shelby Super Snake units arrive in PH
The Autohub Group announced the entry of the American brand Shelby into the Philippines under their distributorship in 2019. They announced a few days ago the arrival of the first batch of Shelby units in the country. This means that Shelby vehicles are now officially available in the country.
The first model to be available is the Shelby Super Snake. It is a two-door muscle car based on the Ford Mustang GT. The Super Snake is the most powerful Mustang that can be purchased from an official dealership.
It is powered by a tuned 5.0-liter V8 with a whopping 700 horsepower. It can also be equipped with a Whipple supercharger which brings that figure up to 813 horsepower.
Aside from a supercharger, Shelby has also installed various upgrades to the vehicle. These include performance half shafts, transmission coolers (for automatic variants), a one-piece driveshaft, and a Ford Performance exhaust system. The Super Snake also comes equipped with an extreme cooling system to keep the engine in optimal operating temperature.
Handling is upgraded thanks to a Ford Performance Track Pack suspension, along with Shelby Performance tires. The brakes are also upgraded to Brembo brakes for more stopping power, the front gets six-piston calipers while the rear gets four-piston calipers.
To differentiate the Super Snake with the standard Mustang GT, there are also a couple of upgrades to the exterior. These are a new front grille, bumper, rocker panels, a front splitter, a rear spoiler, and a rear diffuser. Wheels are upgraded as well to 20-inch forged aluminum-alloy wheels. There are also a handful of interior upgrades which consist of a roll cage, new floor mats, door sill plates, gauge cluster with extra gauges. Lastly there are custom Shelby badging on the engine cover and the dashboard.
