Ford Philippines is not yet done with the month as fresh from the launch of the all-new F-150 just two weeks ago, and a few months after delivering an initial batch of units to customers, they are finally and officially launching the all-new Explorer.

“We are thrilled to introduce the all-new Explorer to our growing SUV line-up in the country. The all-new Explorer builds on its success as one of Ford’s most rugged and capable mid-size SUVs through several design and feature enhancements, making it a more formidable offering for customers seeking refinement in their SUV,” says Michael Breen, managing director, Ford Philippines.

Just like initially reported a few months ago, the all-new 2022 Ford Explorer will only be available with one variant: the 2.3 Limited 4WD. As it is all-new, the Ford Explorer gets a completely new exterior, albeit an evolution of the previous generation, and also a completely new interior design.

On the outside, specifically in front, Ford has given the Explorer a more elegant and subdued appearance. It looks like a larger version of the popular Territory compact SUV. Standard exterior equipment are a Bright Silver-painted Mesh Grille with Chrome Bars, Silver Painted Front and Rear Skid Plate Elements, Body-color Door Handles with Chrome Inserts, Satin Roof-Rack Side Rails, Chrome Dual-exhaust Tips, and 20” polished aluminum wheels. The Headlamps, Front Fog Lamps, and Taillamps are all LED.

Inside, the 2022 Ford Explorer is elevated further with a completely new and visibly more premium interior. It comes with a combination of Ebony Colored Trim and Light Slate Colored Uppers, as well as Multi-color Ambient Lighting. Standard interior equipment include Leather Seating with unique Accent Stitching, heated and ventilated front row seats with 10-way power driver seat with memory and 8-way power passenger seat, heated second row seats with a 35/30/35 Bench configuration and E-Z Entry mechanism for easy access to 3rd row, power-folding third row seats, 8-inch SYNC3 touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 12-speaker Bang & Olufsen premium audio system, wireless charging pad, 6.5-inch Color LCD Display, Heated and Leather-wrapped Steering Wheel, and a Twin-panel Moonroof.

Under the hood is a 2.3-liter EcoBoost petrol engine that produces 299 horsepower and 420 Nm of torque. As with many other Ford vehicles, this is paired to a 10-speed automatic transmission. It also features Auto Start/Stop technology which should allow for better fuel economy.

On top of this, it comes with Intelligent 4WD with Terrain Management System with Seven Selectable Drive Modes: Deep Sand, Eco, Normal, Sport, Tow Haul, Trail, and Slippery, enabling drivers to optimize performance and handling across different environments and uses.

For advanced safety, the all-new Explorer features Ford Co-Pilot360™, Ford’s suite of safety technologies which includes 360-Degree Camera, Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) with Pedestrian Detection, Forward Collision Warning and Dynamic, Brake Support, Auto High-Beam Headlamps, BLIS® (Blind Spot Information System) with Cross-Traffic Alert, Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop-and-Go and Lane Centering, Evasive Steering Assist, and Lane-Keeping System. Other advanced safety features include Post-Collision Braking, Reverse Brake Assist, Hill Descent Control™, and Hill Start Assist.

The all-new 2022 Ford Explorer will be available at all Ford dealerships nationwide starting December 21, 2021. It will go for a suggested retail price of Php 2,998,000.
