GAC Emkoo reportedly launching in PH next month
GAC Motor Philippines may be launching an all-new model at the upcoming Manila International Auto Show which is set to take place this coming April 13 to 16, 2023 at the World Trade Center Metro Manila in Pasay City.
What new model exactly? We might be seeing the GAC Emkoo compact crossover. This is according to a report by AutoIndustriya.com where they were able to get information from a source.
What exactly can we expect from the GAC Emkoo? First in terms of looks, the Emkoo gets a very futuristic and striking front fascia with plenty of diagonal elements. It is a huge departure from the design characteristics of other GAC models available locally such as the recently launched Empow sedan and GS8 SUV.
The side features hidden door handles and sharp creases, while the rear also features plenty of pointed design elements with an overall look that we think is similar to the 1st generation Volvo XC60.
As for the interior, it’s also very modern with its large screens, metal tube-like housing for the air vents which is inspired by ancient Chinese scrolls, and its electric blue interior ambient lighting.
Under the hood of the GAC Emkoo we can expect a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine as with most Chinese crossovers. It may also eventually come with a hybrid powertrain that is co-developed with Toyota. Whichever option comes, we’re hoping that they’re priced competitively.
And with that, we really don’t have much information regarding the said introduction of the GAC Emkoo in the Philippine market. If all goes as rumored, then GAC Motor Philippines will have with them something to take on the Geely Azkarra, MG HS, and very popular Ford Territory.
