GAC EMPOW55 to make appearance at 2022 MIAS
We recently reported that GAC Motor Philippines is set to introduce, or at least preview two brand-new models for its lineup at this year’s Manila International Auto Show (MIAS). While they haven’t made mention of what the models are specifically, we have made assumptions.
Now, with the Chinese automaker’s latest teaser post on its official Facebook page as a source, it’s safe to say that one of the two vehicles set to be previewed at the auto show is a sedan.
GAC Motor Philippines will be displaying the EMPOW55 sport compact sedan, showing that the company is not giving up on sedans just yet. Known as the Trumpchi Empow in China, the GAC EMPOW55 is aimed to directly compete with the Honda Civic.
It features a sporty and aggressive looking exterior with its large grille, mean-looking headlights and taillights, fastback-like body, and sporty rear bumper. Likewise, the interior is also very sporty with its two-tone black and red color scheme. It’s also tech-filled with its large driver instrument cluster and infotainment screens.
Under the hood, the GAC EMPOW55 is powered by a 1.5-liter inline 4-cylinder turbocharged engine that produces 177 horsepower and 270 Nm of torque, paired to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. It is said to be capable of driving from 0 to 100 kph in less than 7 seconds.
No exact information has been revealed just yet as to the EMPOW55’s local specifications and equipment. Considering that the model will simply be previewed, we might not even get this information during the brand’s event at the auto show. Despite that, it will surely be exciting for the company.
