Geely Coolray top-seller in segment for July 2020
The Geely Coolray has re-emerged as the top-selling subcompact crossover for July 2020. It also held the same top spot in the previous month until MG Philippines released their sales figures which revealed that the MG ZS beat the Coolray by a little more than 50 units.
This is very good news for the Chinese car company and its local distributor, Sojitz G Auto Corporation (SGAP) as the brand is about to finish its first year of vehicle sales in the country in September.
This is again based on data from the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines (CAMPI) and Association of Vehicle Importers and Distributors Inc. (AVID). In total, Geely Philippines was able to move 263 units of the Coolray subcompact crossover. That’s an increase of 41% and this puts it on the top-1 spot for sales in the segment, well at least among CAMPI and AVID members.
In addition to that, Geely Philippines has also released its 1000th Coolray unit, also in July. The company also held the 9th spot among passenger vehicle sales in the country with a total of 292 units sold, including its Azkarra compact SUV which is its second model in the local market.
These numbers aren’t surprising given how affordable the Geely Coolray lineup is and considering the amount of features that come with it. It may also be a surprise for some as Geely Philippines has a limited dealer network for now with only three dealerships in Metro Manila, two in the Visayas, and two in Mindanao. We are aware that they have several planned dealerships opening in the upcoming months and years all over the country.
Geely Philippines’ recent performance proves that Filipinos are starting to do away with the Chinese car stigma. This perhaps means that we’ll be seeing more and more Geely vehicles on Philippine roads especially once they further expand their local lineup and dealer network.
