Geely EX5 gets Android Auto, other software enhancements for 2026

The benefits of over-the-air (OTA) software updates in vehicles today is really showing, particularly how present vehicle owners can receive new features without having to replace their vehicle. One vehicle that comes with the OTA update feature is the Geely EX5.

Last year, the fully electric compact crossover received its first OTA update, adding Apple CarPlay connectivity and Acoustic Vehicle Alerting System (AVAS) Low-Speed Alert Optimization. Now, it’s getting a couple more additions to vehicle software with its first round of OTA updates for 2026–three of them, to be exact.

The first is the addition of Android Auto connectivity. This will allow owners to connect their Android devices to the vehicle’s 15.4-inch central infotainment screen. This enhances the user experience, especially when using mobile apps such as Waze and Google Maps, and other voice apps, when driving.

An improvement to the previously added AVAS System will add the option of customizable low-speed alert sounds, with three selectable audio profiles to better suit the user’s preference. Lastly, the EX5 will also be getting a new Drive Setup one-touch activation function which will allow drivers to quickly adjust multiple intelligent driving functions, making for better convenience.

Existing Geely EX5 owners may do the updates themselves through the infotainment screen, or may also bring their vehicles to their preferred Geely service center. All newly released Geely EX5 units will also already come with the updates.
