Geely PH to introduce Hao Yue as Okavango, here are the specs

Here are the specifications of Geely’s newest model in the country.

Geely Philippines, under the distributorship of Sojitz G Auto Philippines (SGAP) has announced that it will be introducing its third model for the local market, the all-new 2021 Geely Okavango, known as the Hao Yue in China.

The arrival of this new model does not come as a surprise as just last week, a unit of this model was found on display inside Geely North EDSA in Quezon City. It was also recently spotted parked outside the same dealership.

According to the company, the name was derived from Northwestern Botswana’s vast inland delta, Okavango Delta. In 2014, UNESCO recognized the Okavango Delta as its 1,000th World Heritage Site. It was also declared as one of the 7 Natural Wonders of Africa.

Those familiar with Geely’s current models, the Coolray and Azkarra, will know how well equipped these two models are considering their price, especially when you compare them to their rivals. While Geely PH did confirm some specifications for the local market version, we found an official spec sheet, probably a screen grab from a brochure, while once again scrolling through Facebook.

Looking at it, we can see that the Geely Okavango will be available in two variants: Comfort and Urban. For the powertrain, both will be powered by Geely’s 1.5-liter 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine with a mild-hybrid system. This is the same one found on the Geely Azkarra. It produces 190 hp and 300 Nm of torque, paired to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. It also has three driving modes which are Eco, Normal, and Sport.

Standard equipment on the exterior are full LED headlights with LED daytime running lights, LED front and rear fog lamps, and full LED taillights. Both variants also get heated side mirrors but the Urban gets automatic folding ones. The Urban variant also adds roof rails and 18-inch alloy wheels, the Comfort gets 17-inch wheels only.

Inside, both variants get a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with QDLink. This most likely does not come with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Comfort variant gets a 4-speaker audio system, fabric seats, and manually adjustable front seats. The Urban variant upgrades to an 8-speaker audio system, leather seats, and power-adjustable front seats. Both get tri-zone climate control.

The Urban also gets a 360-degree around-view monitor instead of just a reverse camera on the Comfort. The Urban also gets side and curtain airbags unlike the Comfort which only comes with dual front airbags. This is on top of standard safety features on both variants which are Anti-lock brakes with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, Hill Descent Control, Hill Start Assist, and a Tire Pressure Monitor.

With so much information already out, we’re not so far from a launch. In fact, Geely Philippines will begin pre-selling for the 2021 Okavango on October 17. Those who will reserve a unit will be able to take advantage of discounts of as much as Php 90,000.
