Geely’s new 7-seater SUV is already in PH

Already displayed in one of Geely’s dealerships in Metro Manila.

It looks like Geely Philippines is gonna be introducing its third model for the local market. Images we spotted on Facebook show a 7-seater SUV displayed in Geely’s North EDSA dealership.

The particular model shown in the photos is known in China as the Geely Hao Yue. It isn’t known yet at this point if it will be renamed for the local market just like how the Binyue was renamed as the Coolray and the Boyue as the Azkarra.

Once it’s officially launched, the Hao Yue, or whatever it will be named in the country, can directly compete with the Chery Tiggo 8, and even the also upcoming Maxus D60 whose information was already leaked online as well. It can also compete with mainstream 7-seater SUVs such as the Toyota Fortuner, Mitsubishi Montero Sport, and others which are already similar in size.

The images show some possible equipment that the local spec Hao Yue will get such as LED headlights and fog lights, a large floating touchscreen infotainment system, digital instrument cluster, and black leather seats with white contrast stitching.

Under the hood, the Hao Yue can be powered by either a 1.5- or 1.8-liter turbocharged petrol engine. The smaller engine produces 177 hp and 255 Nm of torque while the larger one produces 181 hp and 300 Nm. It will most likely come with the smaller option so that it can take advantage of the ASEAN-China Free Trade Agreement which reduces taxes on Chinese-made vehicles with engine displacement of 1.5-liters and below.

We can’t tell yet as well as to how much the Geely Hao Yue will cost in the country. It will most likely be priced higher than the 5-seater Geely Azkarra which tops out at just below Php 1.6-million. Hopefully we get more info soon while waiting for the official launch.
