Going green, Nissan Philippines finally launches LEAF fully-electric vehicle w/ Php 2.798M SRP
After not just weeks, not months, but years of teasing and previews, Nissan Philippines is electrifying its lineup by finally introducing the Leaf, one of the world’s bestselling fully-electric vehicles. The Leaf was originally set to be introduced locally last year however its launch was postponed indefinitely by various reasons, possibly including the COVID-19 pandemic.
Being one of the world’s best selling electric vehicles, Nissan has sold over 500,000 examples of the Leaf around the world from when it first made its world debut until September last year. The zero-emission Nissan Leaf is the embodiment of Nissan Intelligent Mobility, the automotive company’s approach to changing the way cars are driven, powered, and integrated into society. The Nissan Leaf exemplifies this philosophy in three key aspects: Intelligent Power, Intelligent Driving, and Intelligent Integration.
“Finally bringing the Nissan Leaf to the Philippines is a high point in our efforts throughout the years to inform and educate the Filipino public on the benefits of EV adoption. The Nissan Leaf is key to realizing our vision of enriching Filipino lives towards a more connected, sustainable, and resilient society,” says Atsushi Najima, President and Managing Director of Nissan in the Philippines.
Standard exterior features on the Nissan Leaf are the brand’s V-Motion front grille, LED headlights, 16-inch alloy wheels, and LED taillights. Inside you’ll find leather seating, automatic climate control, 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Under the hood, the Nissan Leaf is powered by a 40 kWh battery paired to an electric motor that produces 110 Kilowatts of power or an equivalent of 148 horsepower, and 320 Nm of torque. It can drive from 0 to 100 kph in 7.9 seconds and can go as far as 311 km with a single charge. Charging should take 15 to 18 hours when using the standard universal cable for home charging. Owners can also bring their Leaf to quick charging stations found in equipped Nissan dealerships where it can fully charge in just 40 to 60 minutes.
The Nissan Leaf also features an e-Pedal. This feature allows drivers to start, accelerate, decelerate, and stop using just one pedal by increasing or decreasing the pressure applied to the accelerator. When the accelerator is fully released, regenerative and friction brakes are applied automatically, bringing the car to a complete stop.
The Nissan Leaf is also packed with intelligent driving assistance features that give drivers more confidence and peace of mind. These features include Intelligent Cruise Control, Intelligent Around View Monitor, High Beam Assist, and Hill Start Assist. It also features Intelligent Emergency Braking, Intelligent Driver Alertness, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Blind Spot Warning, Lane Departure Warning, Intelligent Lane Intervention, and Intelligent Trace Control to help ensure the safety of both the driver and passengers.
