Gran Turismo 7 gets 3 new cars and a boost to Sophy AI

It seems that the updates for Gran Turismo 7 are beginning to ramp up as March gets another update (patch 1.57) that introduces three cars and arguably one of the biggest updates to the game’s AI that will probably extend the game’s replayability factor.

The first of the three cars should tickle the fancy of any exotic car lover: the Aston Martin Vantage ‘18. This is the most compact Aston Martin currently on offer, with a traditional front-engined, rear-wheel-driven setup. This one is the V8 model, utilizing a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine with 510 horsepower and 685 Nm of torque.

Next is a more conventional crossover in the Mazda CX-30 X Smart Edition ‘21. This compact crossover slots in between the CX-3 and CX-5 and shares many aspects with the current Mazda 3, including the new Kodo design, tech, and interior layout. This one utilizes the 2.0-liter Skyactiv-X engine that uses the spark-controlled compression ignition (SPCCI) system for improved power and fuel economy. This powertrain is found in very few markets, such as Japan and Germany.

Finally, keeping in tradition with Gran Turismo’s lineup of weird and wacky cars is the Renault Kangoo 1.4 ‘01. If you’re wondering why this out of all the possible cars, the Kangoo is unusually popular in Japan, up to the point where an annual gathering held at the foot of Mount Fuji.
This vehicle is notable for its “fourgonnette” body shape (small commercial vans), with features like a large roof and lots of cargo space, but the Kangoo could be used as a MPV with sliding rear doors and individually adjustable rear seats, arguably kicking off the “ludospace” segment of leisure-oriented MPVs. This Kangoo comes with a 1.4-liter gasoline engine with 73 horsepower, meaning this car is more for variety than for outright speed.

Apart from extra cafe menus, events for the new vehicles, and scapes locations, the other biggest update comes in GT Sophy 2.1. Gran Turismo’s advanced AI can now be used as the rival AI in custom races on all GT Sophy tracks and layouts in World Circuits. While not for all tracks, this is a right step forward into making an arguably easy campaign into something a little more challenging in the long run.
