Gran Turismo 7’s latest update for September is full of variety

With Gran Turismo 7 having matured as a game now, we only expected to see new concept cars trickle in like the Corvette CX and CX.R Vision Gran Turismo, but the September update brings in a whole lot of variety this time around, though, not for those asking for more hypercars or up-to-date race cars, sadly.

First is the Mazda Spirit Racing Roadster 12R, a high-performance variant of the ND MX-5 that was first shown off at this year’s Tokyo Auto Salon. This is the brand’s first car under the Mazda Spirit Racing marque, and it’s limited to 200 units

This gets a 2.0-liter Skyactiv-G (Japanese soft top NDs only get 1.5s) with even more power, bumping it to 200 horsepower thanks to special power upgrades, plus even more handling and special aero, wheels, and interior features.

Next is the Hyundai Elantra N, with what many consider to be the Honda Civic Type R’s Korean equivalent. It packs a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, capable of pushing 280 horsepower and 392 Nm of torque to the front wheels via either an eight-speed DCT or a six-speed manual.

This car has a formidable racing career, especially in the World Touring Car Championship, so expect special Hyundai N liveries to pop up everywhere in-game.

This is followed by a classic, specifically, the Toyota Land Cruiser J40. It’s a legendary off-roader that cemented the long legacy of the Land Cruiser nameplate that spans today, and it’s not uncommon to see J40s being driven and taken around off-road today.

With a whole slew of gasoline or diesel drivetrains available, this car is prime tuning material in-game, especially for those rally courses.

Next is something a bit more pedestrian, but for a good reason. With cars like the Honda CR-V e:HEV in the game, it finally has its Toyota counterpart in the fifth-generation Toyota RAV4.

This one is very different from our local unit as it is based on the hybrid Adventure trim in Japan, hence the more playful and aggressive front fascia and color scheme. Regardless, the hybrid motor underneath is a 2.5-liter gasoline engine mated to an electric motor, with 218 horsepower and 221Nm of torque being sent to the front wheels via an eCVT.
For those wanting to live out their everyday traffic fantasies, the addition of the RAV4 will only make you happier.

Finally, the Opel brand makes a return to the game with the Corsa GSE Vision Gran Turismo, a funky, very edgy concept car that is inspired by the German brand’s motorsport heritage and future tech.
Powered by two electric motors, it has a crazy power output of 800 horsepower and 800Nm of torque being sent to all four wheels, allowing for a 100kph sprint in two seconds, and a top speed of 320kph.
Of course, don’t expect new tracks, but there will be new content that will allow you to drive these cars, photograph them, and even potentially new engine swaps for older cars. The update will be pushed out today, so be sure to update your console when you get home.
