Honda Cars Philippines recalls 10,136 vehicles due to fuel pump issue

8 of 11 models are included in the recall.

Honda Cars Philippines is recalling 10,136 vehicles due to faulty fuel pumps. Affected models are the Accord, BR-V, City, Civic, CR-V, HR-V, Jazz, and Mobilio.

The fuel pumps on these units have defective impellers that may inflate which can stop the pump from rotating. This in turn can cause the engine to stall or fail to start. A similar recall was done by Mitsubishi Motors Philippines for the Xpander late last year.

Starting July 2020, affected Honda owners may start bringing their vehicles for servicing at any Honda dealership/service center nationwide. Servicing, parts, and labor are all free of charge and will take a maximum of 1 hour and 30 minutes.

Owners can also verify online if their Honda vehicle is part of the recall or not by typing the 17-digit Vehicle Identification Number or VIN on the recall page on HCPI’s website.

Setting up appointments with a Honda owner’s dealership of choice is also highly encouraged for a smoother experience. Owners can also contact Honda’s customer service hotline, 1-800-1000-HONDA (46632) or (02) 8 857-7240 between 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, from Monday to Friday, or email [email protected] for any needed assistance.
