Toyota Raize Fighter: Honda reveals all-new WR-V in Indonesia
Honda has just unveiled its latest subcompact crossover offering in Indonesia. Say hello to the all-new 2023 Honda WR-V.
Initially unveiled as the Honda SUV RS Concept at the GAIKINDO Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS), the all-new Honda WR-V is aimed to directly compete with the likes of the Toyota Raize and Hyundai Creta.
In terms of design, it is a huge departure compared to the previous generation. It is also definitely very Honda, borrowing styling cues from the Amaze subcompact sedan. In fact, it uses very similar headlight and taillight units. In addition, Honda was proud to say that it has a class-leading ground clearance of 220 mm.
The same goes for the inside as the all-new Honda WR-V gets an interior that is very identical to that of the Honda Amaze. This design is also shared with the Honda BR-V which will be launched in the Philippines soon. Some features here are leather seats, a 4.2-inch instrument cluster display, and a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system.
Powering the Honda WR-V is a familiar powertrain. In fact, it is shared with the Honda BR-V, City, and HR-V. That is a 1.5-liter Inline 4-cylinder DOHC naturally-aspirated i-VTEC engine that produces 121 horsepower and 145 Nm of torque, paired to an Earth Dreams CVT.
As for safety, the WR-V is available with Honda SENSING, the brand’s suite of advanced driver-assistance technology. This gives it Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS), Road Departure Mitigation System with Lane Departure Warning (RDM with LDW), Auto High-Beam (AHB), Adaptive Cruise Control with Low-Speed Follow (ACC with LSF), and Lead Car Departure Notification System (LCDN).
The all-new 2023 Honda WR-V is now available on sale in the Indonesian market. Other ASEAN markets are expected to follow as well and that could include ours where it will definitely make a good competitor to the popular Toyota Raize.
