Honda sends off the Civic Type R in Europe with an Ultimate Edition

Legends come and go, as most things work. Honda graced us with the FL5-generation Civic Type R back in 2022, a time when manual, front-wheel-driven sports cars were considered a dying breed.
Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end, as the European market is sending off the nameplate with a limited-run Ultimate Edition, marking the end of sales for the car in Europe.
Only 40 will be available, alongside remaining stocks of the Civic Type R there.

You can have it in any color that you want, as long as it’s Championship White, but it comes with special touches such as red stripes on the hood and doors, an Ultimate Edition badge at the back, and a black roof.
Additionally, the big wing at the back is finished in carbon fiber, and the same materials can be found on the side sill, and a carbon key ring.

Other unique touches include additional interior lighting, custom floor mats and car cover, a box with a numbered emblem, and a Type R logo projected on the floor.

The model has had a fairly decorated lifespan, with accolades such as smashing and setting front-wheel drive production records at legendary circuits such as the Nurburgring Nordschleife (Germany), Magny Cours (France), Spa-Francorchamps (Belgium), the Hungaroring (Hungary), Estoril (Portugal), Silverstone (UK), Bathurst (Australia), and on Suzuka (Japan). It has also seen a fairly successful career in the World Touring Car Championship (WTCC) and the World Touring Car Cup (WTCR), so it’s easy to say it’s considered legendary.
While it’s unsure when the production run of the FL5-generation run will end, it’s not surprising to see this and other sports cars die out early in Europe due to stricter emission regulations. This explains why many sports cars in that region are often electrified, which is something that the upcoming Prelude covers.
