Hyundai Motor PH turns over two Elantra Smart Patrol Cars to the PNP

Better watch your backs before committing a violation on the road, as Hyundai Motor Philippines has just turned over two Elantra police cars to the Philippine National Police on February 27, 2026.
However, these aren’t just your average repainted and lightbar-equipped patrol cars—these are purpose-built models with a similar feature set of advanced systems used by the Korea National Police Agency. Of course, they can’t fully disclose what tech went into this car, but you can expect these to come with surround cameras, radar-based speed detection, and an intelligent license plate recognition system to help the operational response of the PNP.

These two patrol cars are based on the Elantra GL STD and the Elantra HEV, where the former utilizes a 1.6-liter gasoline engine mated to a six-speed automatic transmission, capable of 128 horsepower and 155 Nm of torque, while the latter is a more capable and frugal 1.6-liter gasoline engine mated to an electric motor with 141 horsepower and 147 Nm of torque, mated to a six-speed DCT.
In fact, the Hyundai Elantra HEV Premium has made it to our Top 5 Cars of 2025, which shows how well of a package the sedan is.

“These Elantra Patrol Cars are purpose-built to support the PNP’s vital mission of protecting the nation. This handover reflects Hyundai’s belief that mobility should evolve with the needs of modern law enforcement,” said Hyundai Motor Philippines President Jiho Son. “Hyundai is privileged to stand with the PNP as a partner in building safer and more progressive communities.”
