Hyundai reveals updated 2021 Santa Fe

The striking crossover just got even more striking.

Just a week ago, Hyundai released a pair of teaser images showing the updated front fascia of their Santa Fe crossover. Now, the company has officially revealed the 2021 Santa Fe with new heavily revised front fascia and some minor updates around the rest of the exterior, as well as an updated interior with some tech upgrades.

“We modernized the New Santa Fe with premium features and appealing aesthetics that are sure to add value,” said SangYup Lee, Senior Vice President and head of Global Design Center. “The bold lines that extend from one side to the other and from front to back give Santa Fe a rugged yet refined look that SUV customers want. Besides, we’ve added numerous features and functions to create a truly family-focused SUV that is a pleasure to drive.”

The front fascia is definitely more striking. As already seen in the teaser, the Santa Fe now gets a new and wide front grille which the LED headlights are integrated into. It also gets T-shaped LED daytime running lights which run from the upper-split portion of the headlight cluster to the main headlight cluster. On the side, a nice character line connects the upper portion of the DRLs to the taillights which also get an updated design which according to the company gives the crossover a sensuously sporty look. There is also a set of 20-inch alloy wheels.

Also noticeable on the rear is a new thin LED light bar which connects the two taillights. That replaces the chrome bar on the current pre-facelift Santa Fe. In addition to that, there is a single-wide reflector and skid plate on the rear bumper enhancing further the look of the rear end.

At first glance, the interior of the updated Hyundai Santa Fe remains generally unchanged when compared to the current model. The upper half of the dashboard, including the steering wheel remain unchanged for the most part. There is a new 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment display which should include Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The lower half shows us a completely redesigned center console. It now gets a floating center console which should make using the different controls and functions easier and more accessible. You’ll notice that the traditional gear lever has been replaced by buttons which is becoming a trend on newer cars. Also found here is a new Terrain Mode selector knob which will help the driver easily select different driving modes.

More information should be revealed soon as we get closer to an official launch date. We do expect the 2021 Hyundai Santa Fe to get new powertrain options including hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions, and possibly a carry-over turbodiesel engine for markets like ours. It is also already known to be built on a new platform and will probably still be offered with a 7-seater option.
