Hyundai teases 2021 Santa Fe

It will also get new powertrain options and a will ride on a new platform.

We’re not even seeing that many of the current generation Hyundai Santa Fe on our streets yet but the company has already released a teaser as to what the 2021 model will look like. The current generation was launched in the Philippines in 2018.

The images reveal what new design cues the redesigned Sante Fe will receive. The changes are quite significant and an obvious departure from the current model.

The first obvious change are the new LED daytime running lights which are now T-shaped and run from the upper split half of the headlight cluster to the main cluster. This is a bit similar to what we can see on the Hyundai Palisade. The front grille has also been redesigned taking up a much larger space from the front fascia. The lower split portion of the headlights which will also most likely be LED units are also integrated into the new grille.

Two versions of the new front grille are shown. One looks more premium and another one, more sporty.

The new front fascia’s LED lighting style is described to show Hyundai’s new integrated vehicle architecture. The Santa Fe will be the company’s first vehicle to incorporate this and we should see this on more future models.

It is not clear what else the new Santa Fe will be getting other than the new styling but there are reports that it will get new hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains in addition to the gasoline-powered ones. It should also be based on a new platform to allow for the new powertrains. There is no mention as to whether it will still have the turbocharged diesel engine option just like what we get in the Philippines.

Hyundai says that more details will be revealed soon in the coming weeks. It should be available in other markets by September 2020. Other markets could follow before the end of the year and by 2021 which would also probably be when we’ll get it here in the Philippines.
