Hyundai teases facelifted Kona and new Kona N Line
Everyone knows the Hyundai Kona as a uniquely styled vehicle. Well the company has released a teaser which shows us upcoming updates to the subcompact crossover which the company says should strengthen that unique identity. They also teased a new sporty N Line variant which they say doubles down on sportiness with additional aerodynamic exterior detailing.
The updates coming to Kona lineup should express Hyundai’s Sensuous Sportiness global design identity which already found itself first on the Sonata midsize sedan, Elantra compact sedan, and the Sante Fe midsize crossover, as well as other upcoming models such as the next generation Tucson compact crossover and Custo minivan.
The new Kona gets a wider stance and a shark-inspired nose that gives the model a sleeker look. Upgraded daytime running lights give it a more sophisticated appearance. It also appears that the Kona will keep its split headlight design, which is one of the reasons for its unique front appearance, but with a more futuristic look. There is no image yet of the rear so we don’t know if it will also be keeping the split taillight design. Also noticeable is that the Hyundai badge has been moved from the center of the front grille to just above it.
Also teased is the new Kona N Line which receives a more aerodynamic design with low-set air intakes and a more aggressive front bumper, complemented by corner fins and lean crease lines. For those who don’t know, N Line variants of Hyundai are the more sport-oriented variants of their models.
For now that’s all Hyundai has shown and announced. The official press release only says that more design details on the new Kona and Kona N Line will be revealed in the coming weeks.
