Is Hyundai Motor PH launching the Ioniq 6 at MIAS 2023?

Is Hyundai Motor Philippines (HMPH) launching the Ioniq 6 at the upcoming Manila International Auto Show (MIAS)? It may seem like it as the company just sent invites to members of local motoring media for their presentation on the auto show’s first day with the Ioniq 6’s front fascia as a main photo.

Revealed to the world last year at the 2022 Busan International Motor Show in South Korea, the Hyundai Ioniq 6 is the Korean automaker’s first fully-electric sedan. It also rides on the E-GMP platform that it shares with the Ioniq 5 crossover and Kia EV6.

If ever it will indeed be launched, the Ioniq 6 will be the second fully-electric vehicle to join HMPH’s lineup after the Ioniq 5 was previewed at last year’s Philippine International Motor Show, and subsequently made available through the brand’s authorized dealers.

We recently saw the Hyundai Ioniq 6 on preview at the recently concluded 44th Bangkok International Motor Show and 2023 Seoul Mobility Show, as well as on the streets of Seoul, South Korea. Seeing it on Philippine roads will definitely be a treat as it is quite a looker.

Looking at its exterior, the Ioniq 6 is visibly different from the rest of the Hyundai family, getting its design elements from the Prophecy EV Concept. It is certainly attractive with its mix of sharp and soft lines and fastback silhouette, giving it a coupé-like appearance. We particularly love its rear LED lightbar and spoiler. Its interior is likewise very attractive with its dominant use of straight lines and its overall sleek appearance.

The Ioniq 6 also recently won three major awards from the World Car Awards at the New York International Auto Show (NYIAS). These are World Car of the Year, World Electric Vehicle of the Year and the World Car Design of the Year. It also won various prestigious awards in recent months as it was named Saloon of the Year at the 2023 GQ Car Awards, and New Car of the Year hosted by Le Guide del’auto. It even achieved a five-star safety rating and Best in Class selection in the Large Family Car category from Euro NCAP.

Now we’re not entirely sure if the Ioniq 6 will really be launched and immediately made available to the general public at the MIAS, or if this will only be a preview. Regardless, it would be nice for HMPH to show it off at the auto show. With the 2023 Manila International Auto Show happening in just a few days, we’re definitely excited to see what Hyundai has in store for us. How about you?
